Weekend Away

Andy and I enjoyed a weekend away this weekend thanks to Grandpa and Grandma Hatfield and hotel points we earn from our credit card. The kids stayed back home with the Grandparents and Andy and I enjoyed a weekend away in downtown Madrid.

We were able to catch a late night showing of First Man. It’s been almost a year since we went to the movie theatre together.

We did lots of walking around and enjoyed some delicious meals. We also knocked out a little bit of Christmas shopping.

We enjoyed a tapas lunch. Octopus sandwiches - YUM!

We walked all over Madrid & we had a ton of fun!!

Grandpa and Grandma Time

Haley and Audrey each took a personal day and stayed home from school this week so they could have some individual time with Grandpa and Grandma.

Haley took her day this past Thursday. She painted with Grandma, went to McDonalds for lunch, went to the Chino (little grocery store) for snacks with Grandpa, played at the park with Grandpa and enjoyed churros at the churro stand.

Audrey took her personal day on Friday. She wanted to watch the movie Bolt with Grandpa and Grandma. She also went to our neighborhood cafe for a treat with Grandma. After that she went to the Chino for treats with Grandpa. She then went to Burger King with Grandpa and
Grandma for lunch. They stopped to play at the park on the way home.

Overall, I think both girls had a great day and made lots of memories with their Grandparents!

Halloween

We enjoyed painting pumpkins this Halloween. The kids had their language tutor u til 7:30 PM, so we didn’t think we’d have time to carve pumpkins and still get to bed on time. We decided to paint pumpkins instead and it turned out to be so much fun!

Nathan painted his version of a Minecraft character.

Haley (on the left) and Audrey both painted picachu’s.

Andy bought the kids some Saints Day treats. Huevos de Santos and buñuelos.

Nathan’s Birthday Party

Nathan turned 10 years old on August 25th, but he wanted to wait until school started to celebrate his birthday. We celebrated his birthday at the end of October with a Star Wars party at our house.

Getting Settled

We are getting settled into our new home (Same Country, New House).  We even hung pictures this week !  It's starting to really feel like home.

Abby spent part of the day today making her peanut butter munchies.  She not only made cookies, but she cleaned up her mess afterwards - all by herself!!  I was one proud Mom!

Abby and Nathan ride in a carpool to school each morning.  Here they are waiting on our porch for the van to arrive.  It was pouring down rain, so Andy was ready to take them out to the bus with an umbrella.

There they go!

Audrey and Haley loved to pretend they are babies & they love for me to wrap them up in a blanket like a little baby.  The other day I wrapped them both up in a blanket together.  They were so cute!  Audrey is in the purple outfit.

Audrey and Haley's favorite pastime is playing with Abby's polly pockets.  Audrey is in red.

We had a cookout on our porch last night.  The kids loved grilling out hot dogs.  Audrey (red), Nathan, Haley (zebra print) and Abby

I love this poinsettia tree in our yard.

Abby and Nathan are sharing a room for now.  Abby was in a room with the twins at our last house & the twins were just destroying all of Abby's things.  Abby is much happier to be rooming with her brother who leaves all her projects and toys alone.

I worked hard this week building this arbor this week.  I'm trying to get our bougainvillea to grow on top of it.

Update from the Hatfield's

Wow, at this season in my life it seems like it's hard for me to keep up with our little Homeplace on the Web.  We had a GREAT summer!  We had lots of family time in July.  In August, we moved to a new house (about 10 minutes from our old house)  and Abby and Nathan started school.  We are all getting adjusted to the fast paced life of school.

We celebrated Abby's 8 1/2 Birthday on Sunday.  We love celebrating Half Birthday's around our house, so we enjoyed eating cake with her!

The kids had a 3 day weekend last weekend.  It's rainy season here now, but the girls sure did enjoy a little bit of time outside when we had a break in the rain.

Nathan started Kindergarten this year.  He LOVES school !  When he gets home from school we do his homework on the porch.  After we finish homework, he always wants to hold Alley Cat.

Audrey's newest hair style.  She always wants her hair braided.

Haley's newest hobby is collecting caterpillar's.  I don't think we'll have to worry about a caterpillar infestation at our house.

The twins have enjoyed Rainy season.  There's been LOTS of playing in the rain around our house.
